How to get from Ayutthaya to Chiang Mai? As all overnight trains were fully booked I asked around around on facebook and got everything from „Never take the Night-Bus – you‘ll get drugged and robbed!“ to „Night-Bus – no problem“…
We took the Night Bus and it turned out to be quite a pleasant and slightly surreal experience – especially the Midnight Buffet at the motorway station.
When we got to „Seven Senses“-Guesthouse, we quickly realized that this place could be a base for more than just one or two nights. We „updated“ our plans and booked for five nights. A really good decision, as it turned out. In the following day we:
- fed, washed and swam with Elefants.
- hired a scooter (and got fined double of what you normally pay…)
- went to Doi Suthep Temple
- swam in a pond by a waterfall
- listened to excellent jazz at North-Gate Jazz Co-Op
- had a really good Pizza. The Italian Owner comes from Florence and prefers Cambodia to Thailand – the stories you hear while travelling…
In the red „Share“-Taxis and at the Jazz-Club we got talking to couples who were actually spending months in Chiang Mai – after the 5 days we could see, why.
